Guidelines for SYC Spring 2021
If you go on club property to launch your boat or to take in the views, please adhere to Governor Raimondo’s rules of “Social Distancing” that are currently in place. It is up to each of us to adhere to these guidelines. You will be using the Club at your own risk while we do not have any cleaning procedures in place.
As the weather improves and as we enter Phase One (read more here) we will all be tempted to gather and socialize but we must do our part to help keep our members’ safety and health our top priority.
Tennis Courts
While the courts do appear to be ready to use, we are following the guidelines put in place by USTA. For a full description please read the link to USTA Guidelines for Phase 1 (scheduled to begin May 8). These will evolve as we move to Phase 2.
For example, in Phase 1 USTA recommends only playing singles unless all doubles players are within your household or those you know to be low-risk.
If the courts are damp, please stay off as they are still soft from winter.
Please do not go on the courts if puddles are present or if they are soft under foot as you could cause serious court damage. Please remind your children to take care as well!
Please be sure to remove everything that you bring – all tennis balls must be removed after play. Please leave the upper gate by the clubhouse slightly propped open to avoid having to lift the latch. The doors to the lower court will remain closed.
Sweeping of the courts after play: As of now, we will not have the sweepers or line rollers on the courts. We will maintain the courts after hours.
For now, the courts are only open to current SYC tennis members.
Please be mindful of limiting time on courts if others are waiting to play.
Thank you for your cooperation!
